Summary

Powder coats various steel parts in Powder Coat Booth. Requires knowledge of specific part color requirements and the ability to set up powder coat machine for each job. Maintenance of the Powder Coat Booth is also a requirement. Knowledge and use of a respirator.

Essential Functions

  • Receive racks of washed parts into the Powder Coat Booth for powder coat operation.
  • Load powder coat machine with correct powder coat for specific part
  • Secure doors to Powder Coat Booth.
  • Powder Coat parts
  • Remove racks of powder-coated parts from Powder Booth and move to walk-in Baking Oven. Place in Oven and set timer (timer is already preset with appropriate bake times for production parts). Close Oven doors and start process.
  • Move rack of baked parts to cooling area next to Packing Station.
  • Ensure shop cleanliness and booth maintenance on a daily basis.
  • Clean inside powder room
  • Assist in wrapping pallets or other duties as assigned

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:

  • Knowledge of Powder Coat and/or Spray Painting applications.
  • Knowledge of use and maintenance of Respirator.
  • Ability to read blueprints and job packets.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, MSDS Sheets, blueprints, maintenance instructions, and job procedures.
  • Ability to operate Powder Coat Booth.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to operate Forklift.
  • Ability to operate computer.

Education and/or other Requirements

Respirator Training, Respirator Fit Test and Pulmonary Lung test required for Powder Coat Position. Annual Training and Fit Test are also required.

Environmental Factors

  • While performing duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and hazardous chemicals.
  • Ability to perform duties in extreme heat, including walk-in ovens with temperatures ranging from 200 – 400 degrees.
  • Regularly works near moving mechanical equipment and risk of electric shock.
  • Employee often works in confined spaces.

  • While performing the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and arms to operate equipment; push, pull and lift objects; talk and hear.
  • Perform motions including bending, twisting, pushing, pulling.
  • The employee will regularly be required to lift, push or pull weight and/or carry objects weighing 5 lbs and up to 200 lbs
  • Ability to stand for an extended period of time without a significant rest period.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 – $20.00 per hour
