Summary

Receives production orders from Scheduler and programs appropriate machine to produce part. Requires knowledge of programming modes and maintenance. Knowledge and use of calipers, measuring tape, steel inventory, grinder, and forklift.

Essential Functions (CNC Operator)

• Receive Job Order from Scheduler.
• Read blueprints metric and/or standard.
• Able to read dial Indicator and Precision measuring instruments.
• Able to create programs using MasterCam.
• Able to make program adjustments.
• Locate raw material for job order from inventory.
• Load CNC Machine with specific raw material, which could weigh up to 100 lbs. per job.
• Set-up/Program machine to produce part to blueprint.
• Grind rough edges of parts when necessary.
• Stack finished part on skids and/or in boxes to ready for next operation.
• Move finished part to next area of production.
• Perform maintenance on CNC machine from time to time.
• Maintenance of Scrap barrels.
• Empty scrap steel barrels onto scrap truck as needed.

• Ensure shop cleanliness.

Essential Functions (Manual Mill & Lathe)

• Receive Job Order from Scheduler.
• Read blueprints metric and/or standard.
• Able to read dial Indicator and Precision measuring instruments.
• Able to tram head of Mill and/or Lathe and Vise.
• Able to program/operate Wire EDM.
• Able to make program adjustments.
• Locate raw material for job order from inventory.
• Load Machine with specific raw material, which could weigh up to 100 lbs. per job.
• Set-up/Program machine to produce part to blueprint.
• Grind rough edges of parts when necessary.
• Stack finished part on skids and/or in boxes to ready for next operation.
• Move finished part to next area of production.
• Perform maintenance on Mill and/or Lathe machine from time to time.
• Maintenance of Scrap barrels.
• Empty scrap steel barrels onto scrap truck as needed.

• Ensure shop cleanliness.

Essential Functions (Tool & Die)

• Maintenance of Dies already in production use.
• Receive Job Order from Scheduler.
• Machine Parts for new Dies.
• Assembly of new Dies.
• Perform/Qualify first run of new Dies.
• Modify Dies for Revision changes.
• Read blueprints metric and/or standard.
• Able to read Precision measuring instruments.

• Properly store Die when not in use.
• Ensure shop cleanliness.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:

• Ability to operate Computer.
• Knowledge of steel types (i.e. stainless, cold rolled) and location of these raw materials in inventory.
• Ability to read blueprints and job packets.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, MSDS Sheets, blueprints, maintenance instructions, and job procedures.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to operate Forklift.
• Ability to operate Grinder and maintain.

Program training for the CNC, Manual Mill & Lathe Machines.

Environmental Factors

• While performing duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and hazardous chemicals.
• Ability to perform duties in extreme heat.
• Regularly works near moving mechanical equipment.
• Employee often works in confined spaces.
