Role summary:The Senior Manager, Software Engineering, leads platform-level execution of software and AI/ML systems, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and roadmap milestones. This role oversees shared infrastructure, tooling, and frameworks to support scalable, secure development while driving the full software lifecycle across multiple teams. The position champions DevOps practices, cloud cost optimization, and technical excellence, fostering collaboration across engineering, product, and data teams. The role also mentors engineers, manages complex initiatives, and ensures delivery of high-quality, reliable software solutions that meet business objectives and enhance operational performance.

The Customer Engagement Services Technology team develops advanced customer service solutions impacting millions globally. It includes software engineers, data scientists, and machine learning experts focused on innovative Generative AI applications within complex enterprise environments. As part of Walmart Global Tech’s Enterprise Business Systems, the team collaborates closely with product, business, and UX partners to deliver measurable business value. Emphasizing scalable, secure, and maintainable software design, the team drives continuous improvement and operational excellence to support Walmart’s mission of helping customers save money and live better.
What you'll do:
- Lead platform-level execution of software and AI/ML systems, ensuring alignment with domain priorities and roadmap milestones.
- Oversee shared infrastructure, tooling, and frameworks to support scalable, secure, and reusable development.
- Drive full software development lifecycle across multiple teams, promoting DevOps practices and continuous improvement.
- Manage cloud cost optimization and enhance automation, telemetry, and tooling to reduce operational friction.
- Mentor engineers, guide architectural decisions, and uphold technical quality and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define priorities, track milestones, and ensure timely delivery of complex initiatives.
- Foster innovation by identifying opportunities to improve processes, tools, and products continuously.
What you'll bring:
- Extensive experience leading platform engineering initiatives, including software and AI/ML system development aligned with strategic roadmaps.
- Proven expertise in managing full software development lifecycle, emphasizing DevOps architecture, CI/CD, and cloud cost optimization.
- Strong technical judgment with the ability to guide architectural decisions ensuring scalability, maintainability, and performance.
- Demonstrated success in stakeholder management, coordinating cross-functional teams to deliver complex technical projects on time.
- Proficiency in project management, milestone tracking, and capacity planning to drive operational excellence.
- Commitment to mentoring engineers and fostering continuous improvement through coaching and knowledge sharing.

The annual salary range for this position is $132,000.00 - $264,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.Option 2: 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
