About This Position
Position Summary
The Calibration Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, calibrating, troubleshooting, and maintaining measurement and test equipment to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with company quality standards and industry regulations. This role supports manufacturing, engineering, and quality assurance by ensuring all instruments perform within specified tolerances.
Essential Functions
- Ability to perform all safety critical functions. The product must be built to the designated specs approved and can not be deviated or substituted. The control, performance and tolerance are essential for the part to function so that it does not jeopardize public safety or it’s compliance with government regulations.
- Must be able to recognize and call the critical characteristic symbols as listed on the blueprints.
- Perform calibration, adjustment, and preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, electronic, and dimensional measuring instruments.
- Verify measurement accuracy using traceable calibration standards.
- Troubleshoot and repair instruments that are out of tolerance.
- Maintain accurate calibration records and documentation in accordance with quality management systems (ISO 9001, AS9100, or other applicable standards).
- Schedule and manage calibration intervals for equipment.
- Interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, and calibration procedures.
- Identify equipment requiring repair or replacement and communicate findings to management.
- Support internal and external quality audits.
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies while handling precision equipment.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve measurement-related issues.
- Assist in developing and improving calibration procedures and work instructions.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical certification in Electronics, Instrumentation, Metrology, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in calibration, instrumentation, or a related technical field preferred.
- Knowledge of calibration standards, measurement uncertainty, and traceability.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, pressure gauges, multimeters, oscilloscopes, torque tools, and temperature measurement devices.
- Ability to read technical drawings, specifications, and equipment manuals.
- Strong computer skills and experience with calibration management software.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong problem-solving and communication abilities.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, and walk for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity to handle delicate instruments and precision equipment.
- Ability to distinguish small measurement markings and read technical documentation.
Preferred Certifications
- Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) from the American Society for Quality (ASQ) or equivalent.
- Experience working in ISO 17025, aerospace, automotive, or other regulated environments is a plus.
