About This Position

Summary:
Basic responsibility for certain commodity groups given by immediate supervisor / manager. This includes, but not limited to negotiating contracts, supplier reduction and cost savings.

Preferred Educational Experience:
Associate Degree preferred with two (2) years experience in Manufacturing Purchasing.
Non-Degree individuals prefer three (3) years experience in Manufacturing Purchasing.

Preferred Work Experience:
Prefer 2-3 years of Purchasing experience.

Essential Functions:

• Ability to perform all safety critical functions. The product must be built to the designated specs approved and can not be deviated or substituted. The control, performance and tolerance are essential for the part to function so that it does not jeopardize public safety or it’s compliance with government regulations.
• Must be able to recognize and call the critical characteristic symbols as listed on the blueprints.
• Negotiates with suppliers on contracts for material / components pricing, length of contract, payment terms, etc.
• Works on-going for cost savings.
• Works on Accounting issues (price discrepancies, etc).
• Makes supplier visits when necessary.
• Sends out quote requests and reviews for best selection.
• Updates system with supplier information, pricing, minimum buy quantities & lead time
• Sends engineering change notices and blueprints to supplies (new parts & design revisions)
• Initiate customer contact with prospective suppliers including NDA and financial surveys to validate supplier performance capabilities.
• Ensure accurate documentation is available to send with quote packages to suppliers.
• Communicate with other departments to ensure information needed is delivered in a timely manner.
• Monitor inventory levels on components and adjust safety stock levels where needed.

• Interactions with sales reps. when needed
