SUMMARY: Enforce the City and State animal ordinances to ensure public safety from animals, the humane treatment of animals, and the prevention of the spread of diseases from animals to humans.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

I. Patrol, Capture, and Husbandry Activities

1. Cleans shelter and performs animal husbandry daily.
2. Patrols for violations and receives dispatches regarding violations, responds by capturing and removing animals, assuring safety, public health and professionalism.
3. When a violation is detected, provide an appropriate and timely response assuring safety for animals, citizens, and self.
4. Euthanize animals as required in a timely manner.
5. Completes all required paperwork, assuring accuracy and timeliness.
6. Volunteer Program – responsible for recruitment, training and observatory duties.

II. Dead Animal Removal Activities

Finds remains or is advised of remains of dead animals and completes the disposal assuring for sanitation and for safety.

III. Administrative Activities

1. Keeps statistics, work logs, and other required data on animal code efforts for compliance with state, local and other regulations.
2. Communicates with citizens, agencies, and others assuring politeness, professionalism, and a positive public image utilizing phone, email, and verbal skills.
3. Transport animals to veterinarian clinic. Transports dogs to Moberly Correctional Center for “puppies for parole” training program and assists finding homes for dogs.

IV. Code Enforcement Activities

Assist Lead Code Enforcement personnel with observe and reporting of city ordinance violations such as unmaintained lawns, trash carts, and other property maintenance violations per City code.
