The City of Moberly is accepting applications for a Maintenance Worker in the Water Distribution and Collection Dept. This position monitors and maintains all city water and sewer lines. Backhoe and plumbing experience is desired. Must have a high school diploma or GED, and be able to obtain a CDL License within 6 months.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
I. Line Maintenance Activities 75% of Time
A. Receives an assignment and conducts a physical inspection to determine the problem, assesses what supplies and equipment will be needed.
B. In some instances, notifies the USIC (locator organization) to determine the location of other utilities. Organizes supplies, equipment and loads truck.
C. Receives locator information, receives the plan for corrective action, implements the plan assuring for compliance with the plan specifications. Always follows safety procedures and uses appropriate safety equipment.
D. Completes any follow up work required assuring for the best possible PR for the City, and for completion of the project.
E. Maintains availability on an "on-call" status to handle any emergency situation.
II. New Line Installation & Construction Activities 20% of Time
A. In some instances, notifies the USIC (locator organization) to determine the location of other utilities. Organizes supplies, needed equipment and loads truck.
B. Receives information from locator organization and digs trench and lays pipeline assuring for safety and compliance with the plan.
C. Fills in trench after pipe is laid and completes landscaping to restore environment to previous or better state.
D. Conducts a pressure test assuring pipe integrity.
E. Completes any follow-up work required assuring for the best possible PR for the City and for completion of the project.
III. Equipment & Supplies Activities 5% of Time
A. Maintains an awareness of all the needed supplies and equipment required to operate on a daily basis.
B. Monitors the daily inventory of the required supplies and equipment required to operate.
C. Notifies the appropriate person regarding the need to restock needed supplies and equipment.
D. Completes routine maintenance on various pieces of equipment, trucks and backhoes as needed.
E. Operates camera to monitor sewer lines as needed.
