Placement and Outreach Specialist

PRIMARY ROLE:
The Placement and Outreach Specialist (PS) works to develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and employers which lead to informational interviewing opportunities, shadowing experiences, job placement, long-term career placement and/or enrollment in post-secondary education or military. S/he works closely with location staff to match persons receiving services appropriately with job/career opportunities. Partners with other company placement staff to ensure a coordinated effort is made to promote Job Point’s expertise in addressing the needs of local employers and community needs. Primary responsibility is to the YouthBuild (YB) program and secondary responsibility is outreach efforts at local Boone County Juvenile Justice Center (JJC).
SECONDARY ROLE:
The Placement and Outreach Specialist (PS) will serve as instructor delivering curriculum for the restaurant industry.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree (minimum)/Bachelor’s degree (preferred) in business, marketing, social work, human resources or a related field with one year of professional experience.
- Experience cooking in the restaurant industry required.
- Experience working with people with court involved youth/adults or individuals with barriers to employment is preferred.
- Related work experience may be substituted for educational qualifications.
- Must have or be able to obtain a valid Class E Missouri driver’s license within 30 days and posses an excellent driving record. Travel in fulfilling job responsibilities is required.
- Must be able to pass the JJC background screening process.
- Must have or be able to obtain certification in Positive Supports training, First-Aid/CPR within 60 days of employment.
- Obtain Love and Logic Certification within the first 90-Days.
