The Career Development Specialist will provide assistance and support to a variety of Job Point programs as needed. Duties may include providing vocational training in areas such as core construction skills, CPR/First Aid, OSHA, career planning, job readiness training. S/he may also assist with transporting students to and from worksites, teaching a variety workforce development classes, supervising students at a worksite and determining eligibility for enrollment based in program requirements. Duties may occur at the local juvenile justice center, at community based businesses or at Job Point’s main location.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education or experience in a related field (e.g., education, social work, career counseling).
• Experience in instructing small group training sessions with varying learning levels.
• Ability to work enthusiastically with opportunity youth.
• Strong communication skills.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong conflict resolution skills.
• Must have or be able to obtain a valid Class E Missouri driver’s license within designated time frame and possess an excellent driving record.
• Must have or be able to obtain certification in CPR, First Aid, OSHA-10 and Positive Supports within designated time frame.
• Ability to pass and maintain security clearance for Boone County Juvenile Justice Center.
