Director of Community Engagement provides leadership, management, and oversight of all day program operations. This position is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality, person-centered supports that promote skill development, inclusion and community engagement. The Director ensures compliance with all regulatory standards, oversees staff supervision and training, and collaborates with agency leadership to support the organization’s mission and goals. The Director actively participates in daily programming, provides coverage as needed, and supports services offered during the week and weekends. Maintain confidentiality of all individuals’ Protected Health Information used for treatment, payment, health care, etc. as set up by the Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act of 1996. (HIPAA). Maintain individual and program confidentiality. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Oversee the daily operations of the day program, including weekend services, to ensure consistent, engaging, and person-centered support. This position provides leadership, staff supervision, and program development while ensuring compliance with agency policies and regulatory standards. Ensure services align with the organization’s mission and comply with all applicable regulations, CARF accreditation standards, and funding requirements. (Medicaid Waiver and DMH) Develop and implement policies and procedures, and quality assurance initiatives to promote best practices, continuous improvement, and growth of the department. Serve as a liaison with families, guardians, support coordinators, and community stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration. Participate in strategic planning and program development to expand community living opportunities and enhance service delivery. Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and operations of the agency. Additional Specific Responsibilities include the following:
- Monitor program outcomes, participant satisfaction, and service delivery effectiveness.
- Coordinate with Support Coordinators, families, and other service providers to ensure holistic supports.
- Maintain accurate documentation, billing, reports, and records as required by accreditation, funding and licensing agencies.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and professional team culture focused on respect, collaboration, and growth.
- Attend leadership and interdepartmental meetings as required.
- To provide support and coverage when staff shortages occur to maintain services quality and operational needs.
- Participate in the development and implementation of Individual Service Plans (ISP).
- Advocate for individual’s rights, independence, and full participation in the community.
- Communicate information necessary for administration of the Community Services Program to the Executive Director.
- Abide by ICAN Personnel Policies as a condition of employment.
- Represent the agency to organizations, individuals, and government officials in a positive manner.
- Oversee the Monthly Summary process – Overseeing the completion of all programs monthly summaries and ensuring their accuracy. Ensuring monthly summaries are sent to the appropriate service coordinator by the 15th of the month.
- Billing-Oversee accurate billing practices. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Director of Community Engagement is responsible for the supervision of all Program Administrator, Lead Staff, and Direct Support Professionals. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major specialization (24 + credit hours) in the social or behavioral sciences, education, nursing, counseling, adjunctive therapies, vocational rehabilitation, or closely related areas. Five + years of experience serving individuals of a variety of ages and ability levels who have disabilities. Three + years administrative and supervisory experience in community-based service provision or similar position resulting in a thorough knowledge of Missouri Medicaid Waiver for DD guidelines and provider responsibilities. Ability to effectively supervise, train and motivate professional level and subordinate staff. Ability to assess problems and use good judgement to implement effective solutions. Possess professional level oral and written communication skills. Specialized knowledge of CARF accreditation standards and/or DMH quality outcomes. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read English. Ability to write reports, service notes, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, individuals, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. CERTIFICATES. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Director of Community Engagement must be an insurable driver with Class E license as determined by the company’s underwriter. This person must be able to successfully complete and pass; Level 1 Medication Assistant (L1MA), CPR and First Aid Course, Abuse and Neglect Training, Positive Behavior Support, Missouri Quality Outcomes, Person Centered Planning, and 14 hours of employment curriculum training, approved by the Division of DD.
