Build the Future with Us — EquipmentShare is Hiring an Intern: Financial Systems Engineer

At EquipmentShare, we’re not just filling a role — we’re assembling the best team on the planet to build something that’s never been built before. We’re on a mission to transform an industry that’s been stuck in the past by empowering contractors and communities through innovative technology, real-time support, and a team that truly cares.

We’re hiring an Intern: Financial Systems Engineer for our Corporate HQ in Columbia, MO and we’re looking for someone who’s ready to grow with us, bring energy and drive to their work, and help us build the future of construction. We are seeking a Financial Systems Engineer - Intern to serve our Enterprise Systems teams. Our main tech ecosystem includes AWS, Python, Snowflake, TypeScript, and React.

What you'll be doing

You’ll be part of the Financial Systems Engineering team. You’ll serve this close-knit team in the development of custom solutions. You will help integrate semi-disparate systems, whether internally developed or third-party business applications (including, but not limited to, multiple ERPs and bolt-on financial applications).

Our team advises on, implements, maintains, and integrates core and secondary business systems for day-to-day operations. We work heavily across departments with corporate leadership and product owners, evaluating departments' functional needs and pain points. From there, we advise on options, whether via expanding current systems, developing new processes, or utilizing and integrating third-party platforms.

We'll be there to support you as you become familiar with our teams, product domains, tech stack, and processes — generally, how we all work together.

As a Financial Systems Engineer - Intern, you will

  • Support the design and testing of internal tools and processes that connect, automate, and improve business and financial systems.
  • Learn how to integrate data across disparate platforms (e.g., ERPs, data warehouses, APIs) and contribute to building scalable, maintainable workflows.
  • Assist in building and maintaining data pipelines: cleaning, transforming, and preparing datasets for reporting and analytics.
  • Help investigate and troubleshoot issues with existing tools, pipelines, and system integrations using SQL, Python, or cloud-native tools.
  • Shadow senior engineers and analysts to gain hands-on experience with REST APIs, data modeling, and systems such as dbt Cloud and Snowflake.
  • Participate in team meetings to understand business priorities and how data supports financial operations and decision-making.
  • Document technical processes, findings, and recommendations for internal use.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders, turning technical concepts into clear and actionable information.

Why EquipmentShare?

Because we do things differently — and we think you’ll feel it from day one. We’re a people-first company powered by cutting-edge technology. That means our proprietary T3 platform doesn’t just run our business — it also makes your job easier, safer, and more connected. Whether you’re behind the wheel, under the hood, leading a branch, or closing deals — tech supports you, and you drive us forward.

We’re a team of problem-solvers, go-getters, and builders. And we’re looking for teammates who take pride in doing meaningful work and want to be part of building something special.

What we will offer you

  • Competitive compensation
  • Mentorship from experienced Engineers and Analysts across Enterprise Technology.
  • Exposure to real-world financial systems and the technologies that support large-scale business operations.
  • Practical experience in software development workflows, data engineering, and API integrations.
  • A stronger foundation in both technical and business communication — learning how to bridge the gap between data and decision-making.
  • Generous PTO + paid holidays
  • Gym membership stipend + wellness programs (earn PTO and prizes!)
  • Company events, food truck nights, and monthly team dinners
  • 16 hours of paid volunteer time per year — give back to the community you call home

About You

You want to be part of a team that’s not just changing an industry for the sake of change — we’re transforming it to make it safer, more secure, and more productive. You bring grit, heart, and humility to your work, and you’re excited about the opportunity to grow within a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

We’re looking for people who:

  • See challenges as opportunities
  • Embrace change and continuous improvement
  • Bring energy, effort, and optimism every day

Who you are

You're a hands-on developer who gets stuck in; you enjoy solving complex problems and building impactful solutions. Most importantly, you care about making a difference.

  • You’re a curious, proactive learner excited about the intersection of software, data, and financial systems.
  • You enjoy breaking down complex problems into simple steps and want to understand how systems talk to each other.
  • You’re not afraid to ask questions and are eager to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
  • You bring structure and attention to detail in your approach, especially when working with data.
  • You’re looking to build a foundation in system architecture, analytics engineering, or data infrastructure as you explore your career.

So, what is important to us?

Above all, you’ll get stuff done. More importantly, you’ll collaborate to do the right things, in the right way, to achieve the right outcomes.

  • Currently a Junior + in a Bachelor’s degree program for Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field.
  • Coursework or project experience in programming (Python, JavaScript, Java, C, etc ) and/or data manipulation (SQL).
  • Basic familiarity with databases, APIs, Docker, or cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Snowflake, GCP) is a plus.
  • Understanding (or a strong desire to learn) version control tools like Git and data transformation tools like dbt.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially when explaining technical ideas.

Ideally, some of the things that would be nice to have, but not required, are:

  • Previous internship, coursework, or personal project experience involving data extraction or system integration.
  • Exposure to project management or ticketing systems (e.g., Jira, Shortcut, SolarWinds).
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools like Datadog or Jenkins.
  • Enthusiasm for automation, system optimization, or financial technology.
