Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Operator

We are seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Operator to support our construction operations by ensuring equipment is maintained, repaired, and ready for daily use. This role is primarily focused on working on construction equipment, with secondary responsibilities operating equipment when mechanical services are not immediately required. This is a hands-on, field-oriented position critical to keeping our fleet operating at full capacity.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on construction equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and complete repairs in a timely manner
- Maintain working knowledge of agricultural tractors and related equipment
- Conduct preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life
- Document repairs and communicate equipment status with supervisors and operations teams
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety standards and company policies
- Operate various types of heavy equipment as needed, including but not limited to: Excavators, Dozers, Tractors, Skid steers.
- Support field operations by operating equipment when mechanical work is not required
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment, with experience in a construction setting preferred
- Proven experience working on construction equipment
- Knowledge of Agricultural tractors and agricultural equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair equipment issues
- Ability to travel as required for the position
- Willingness to perform both mechanical and operational duties as business needs dictate
- Valid CDL (highly preferred, but not required)
- Experience operating heavy equipment in a construction environment (preferred, not required)
- Familiarity with fleet maintenance practices (preferred, not required).
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift, bend, kneel, and perform physical labor associated with equipment repair and operation
- Willingness to work extended hours as needed to support operations
