Associated Electric is looking for a proven leader to join our Power Production Division as the Manager, Operations. If you thrive in a fast-paced, critical operations environment—and are passionate about safety, plant performance, and people leadership—this is your opportunity to drive real impact in the heart of our generation fleet.
In this role, you’ll lead operations for turbine-generator systems, the chemical lab, and the coal yard, ensuring our facilities run safely, reliably, and efficiently. This is more than a management role—it’s a chance to influence the future of our power plants by developing teams, improving processes, and aligning operations with strategic corporate goals.
What you’ll do:
- Lead day-to-day operations while prioritizing safety above all else—including incident response, environmental compliance, and regulatory adherence.
- Set and monitor performance standards, manage outages, and oversee maintenance activities to ensure plant reliability and operational excellence.
- Hire, develop, and lead both union and non-union staff while promoting a collaborative and inclusive work culture.
- Manage departmental budgets and resources while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across operations and chemical lab functions.
- Serve as a cross-functional leader, driving communication between operations, maintenance, engineering, safety, and environmental teams.
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, operations management, or a related field—or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 8+ years of experience in power plant operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience with regulatory requirements specific to chemical lab operations and safety/environmental compliance.
- Strong leadership and communication skills; proven ability to lead union teams is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with CMMS and other plant management systems.
